Straight after issue of registration card at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, you will be asked to declare your address in Latvia. To declare your address in Latvia, you will require a consent from your landlord – consent can be included as a separate clause in the Rental Contract, but it should always be discussed in advance with the landlord before signing the Rental Contract.
Additional information about declaring your address in Latvia is available here.
A declared address is a requirement for entering into relations with various private and public institutions (such as banks and schools).
Additionally, depending on the municipality where your declared address is, you can gain benefits, discounts, and bonuses from the local institutions. For example, Riga residents can obtain a Riga Resident’s Card, which gives certain discounts, and can be used as an e-ticket and e-wallet.
