Pauls Stradiņš Medicine History Museum invites you to a tour of the exhibition in English by the curator Kaspars Vanags, in order to look at its thematic tangle together – household items that came to the museum because they belonged to one or another, from the point of view of previous generations, significant departed.
Pens that no longer write, a yellowed cigarette holder, glasses in battered dermatin cases. Also grave wreaths and mourning ribbons. Such memorabilia in museums is entrusted with a task borrowed from religious practices – to maintain a connection with the idea of immortality in a secular society. And how good is it for a science museum?
