Rīga City Council has announced a series of commemorative events as a reminder of the tragic events in Riga in 1991 - when Latvia struggled for its freedom from the USSR.

10:00-21:00 a memorial bonfire will burn under the supervision of Young Guard and
10:00-18:00 museum bus exhibition
10.00-19.00 exhibition "Poster at the 1991 Barricades" and paintings made from camouflage nets
13:50 - 14:30 a solemn Guard of Honor at the memorial stones of the deceased in Bastejkalns and at the former Ministry of the Interior building at 6 Raina boulevard
14:00 flowers will be laid at the Freedom Monument and at the places of remembrance of the fallen.
