The mayflower delights with its elegant, delicate flowers and intoxicates with its delightful scent. In many European countries it is a symbol of purity, joy, love, warmth, happiness and good luck. Various decorations depict the mayflower alone or together with other flowers such as forget-me-nots, pansies, lilacs and even roses.
The exhibition will feature mayflowers depicted on various objects from the Classical period to the present day - glass, porcelain and metal dishes, interior objects, works of art, magazines and postcards. Highlights include Art Nouveau plates with elegant mayflower and lilac decorations, exquisite colored glass vases and Villeroy & Boch majolica plates.
