Jazz concert "Rhythms and Variations"

Traditionally, the concert hall "AVE SOL" will feature jazz - the Riga vocal jazz group "Assembly Singers" has prepared a musically rich and full-voiced jazz music programme in the concert "Rhythms and Variations".

This time the musically attractive Riga vocal jazz group "Assembly Singers" will perform together with the charming jazz interpreter Laimi Rācenajs and the instrumental group led by Madars Kalnins.

From the wide spectrum of jazz music, this programme will highlight a particularly original facet - "Livu Song Retrospective" - Livu folk melodies and original songs in modern jazz arrangements created by former members of the ensemble, composers Elīna Selga and Madars Kalniņš.

As a contrast to the vibrancy of northern folk music in jazz interpretation, the second part of the programme will be saturated with one of the most vivid and lively jazz subgenres - Latin jazz - a fusion of American jazz, Cuban and Spanish Caribbean music, sometimes referred to as Afro-Cuban jazz because of these early influences. Listeners will hear such Latin jazz gems as "The Girl from Ipanema", "Brazil", "Corcovado", "No More Blues", "Besame Mucho" and many more.

The concert will be complemented by the improvisational talents of jazz professionals Madars Kalniņš (keyboards), Andris Grunte (double bass), Artis Orubs (percussion) and Indriķis Veitners (clarinet, saxophone).
