In 2025, the world celebrates the milestone birthday of the esteemed Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will also send its greetings with a special concert.
Under the baton of Principal Guest Conductor Kristiina Poska and featuring pianist Georgijs Osokins, the orchestra will perform Pärt’s largest instrumental work Lamentate. Inspired by Anish Kapoor’s large-scale installation Marsyas, the lamento is a meditation on the immediacy of life written "not for the dead, but for the living". The second part of the concert will focus on the portrayal of natural landscapes in Beethoven’s music.
