The concert program Picturesque Romanticism was compiled by Arturs Švarcbahs, the choirmaster of the State Academic Choir Latvija and the conductor of this concert. It is inspired by the composition The Lark Ascending by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, which will be performed by the outstanding violinist Paula Šūmane and the Choir Latvija under the direction of Arturs Švarcbahs.
The concert, for which the conductor has chosen the foyer of the Latvian National Museum of Art as the venue, will feature opuses by Ralph Vaughan Williams inspired by English history, literature and nature - Bushes and Briars, Three Shakespeare Songs and The Lark Ascending, as well as the solo songs Urlicht, Die zwei blauen Augen and Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen by the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, arranged for mixed choir by the German composer and musicologist Clytus Gottwald.
