Panic attack in porcelain: Skuja Braden's exhibition 'Up, down and around!'

The artists Ingūna Skuja-Breidena and Melisa Skuja-Breidena (Skuja Braden) have a diverse creative heritage, and their current creative trajectories mark an ever new search for form, experimentation with materials and technological possibilities, as well as a brazen and unapologetic engagement in dialogue with socio-political realities and cultural narratives.

The exhibition can be seen in the ground floor windows of the museum, in the underground exhibition room and in the other exhibition spaces.

The artists themselves say about the exhibition: "This exhibition is for a world that has lost its common sense (did it ever have any?). We are happy to embrace fragmentation, layering baroque narratives, geopolitical critiques and absurd mythologies, linking the display cases like a porcelain proof board. Leda gives birth to a swan, while the music box gently insists: “Let it be.” A birch grove dressed in a high-fashion corpse cover. Wildlife post-apocalyptically defilates on the tongue. Orwell's Animal Farm undergoes Anthropocene enhancements and becomes a totem for bewildering mortality. Our latest exhibition is a lullaby to climate horror - myth meets meme. Up is down, down is up, and all around is a porcelain mess - carefully arranged, slightly insane and completely purposeful."
