The Culture and Folk Art Center Ritums in cooperation with Riga Municipality and the Latvian Folklore Society will for the first time organize a large-scale Meteņi celebration that will allow all who visit to see, feel, taste and hear how interesting, fulfilling and exciting Latvian traditions really are and how they can interact with the modern world.
Throughout the event, there will be singing and dancing at Town Hall Square, performances by mask groups on stage, an open-air mask exhibition, and creative workshops in the Rātes Pasāža - making cluster masks, traditional rag dolls, and masks for the youngest ones.

12.00 Opening ceremony, lighting of bonfires, mask parade
13.00 Performance by masked groups "Ķekatas" and "Meteņi gypsies", bragging competition, concert by musical group TKP/Tā kā pērn
14.00 Race of strength, performance by the mask group "Budēļi", concert by the band "Rahu The Fool"
15.00 Fire ball burning, concert of the band "Olas"
12.00 – 16.00 Workshops in the Rātes Pasāža, open-air mask exhibition, traditional winter roundabout and pony rides, food zone, bonfires.
