The exhibition brings together 24 glass artists from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. The Baltic Glass Art Exhibition highlights the modern use of glass as a material, highlighting its classical qualities in a contemporary and conceptually imaginative form.
The aim of the exhibition is to bring together various professional artists working in and connected with the Baltic region - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia - whose primary material of work and self-expression is glass, thus creating a certain summary of the state of the industry today, ensuring the continuity of traditions, finding new interpretations of them and impulses for further explorations. As well as exploring what constitutes the value of a glass work - its visually irresistible beauty or the profound message of its message. The project offers an exploration of the current relationship between artist, idea, material and art - to inspire, to complement, to be aware, to raise self-awareness and recognition.
Baltic contemporary glass art is represented by 24 outstanding artists, whose works have been selected through a competitive process by curators from each country - Kati Kerstna (Estonia), Dalia Truskaitė (Lithuania), Barbala Gulbe and Marta Ģibiete (Latvia), as well as by local and international experts as jury members. The 9 works selected for the exhibition are from Latvia, 7 from Lithuania and 7 from Estonia, highlighting the multi-layered nature of the Baltics, creating a unique atmosphere and environment. In the exhibition space, visitors will be able to discover individual stories, dreams and visions in glass, reflected on different levels - both visually direct and poetically encoded in mystery.
