Charity Concert for Ukraine's Victory - Daugava by Mārtiņš Brauns and Contemporary Ukrainian Jazz

The charity concert dedicated to the Defenders of the Fatherland Day in Ukraine will feature an unusual but wonderful musical combination - Ukrainian jazz and Latvian choral music. In the first part of the concert the audience will hear Ukrainian contemporary jazz by some of the best Ukrainian jazz musicians - the great jazz singer Laura Marti, virtuoso guitarist Taras Kushniruk, Natalia Lebedeva, who is called the best jazz pianist in Ukraine, Yuri Natsvlishvili, a favorite of the Latvian audience, on the double bass, and Rinalds Maksimovs from Latvia on the drums.

In the second part of the concert, the legendary cycle Daugava by Mārtiņš Brauns and Rainis will be performed in full by Riga Luther Church Choir under the direction of conductor Matīss Tučs together with keyboardist Austris Kalniņš, guitarist Kaspars Zemītis and Ukrainian double bassist Yuri Natsvlishvili, thrilling the hearts of the audience. The soul-touching Sun, Thunder, Daugava, The Raven and other well-known as well as lesser heard parts of the cycle will be performed. Interestingly, Rainis' sometimes almost clairvoyant philosophy in the texts of the musical poem takes on a new meaning at this period time. A special light production was created for the concert by light artist Ivars Vācers.

Tickets will also be sold on the day of the concert at the entrance.
