On 23 August 1989, Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians formed the Baltic Way – 1.5 million people holding hands in a 660 km-long chain from Tallinn through Riga to Vilnius. They demanded the acknowledgement and condemnation of the Hitler–Stalin Pact.
