Performance "Winter's tale"

What does it mean to alter reality today if human psychology remains unchanged? Alongside innovations and parallels with Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, the play delves into the familiar themes of jealousy, competition, and fragile love, culminating in an unexpected, fairy tale-like ending that promotes humanity. All the Shakespearean codes are at play.

Director Jeff James has described "The Winter's Tale" as Shakespeare's "wildest and most unpredictable play." In Shakespeare's version, the characters navigate their relationships within the kingdoms of Sicily and Bohemia, whereas James and his team have relocated them to Silicon Valley and the virtual reality of "Bohemia." Exploring a classic narrative through parallels with contemporary social media giants has birthed a sharp satire on power, entitlement, and jealousy blindness. The show's title points to the letter "W," often used in slang as an abbreviation for "win”.

Based on William Shakespeare. Director and author Jeff James.

Performance in Latvian with English surtitles.
