At the end of 2022, the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency will launch the Workcation program, inviting representatives of large foreign companies to spend a working week in Riga. As part of the program, the participants will be able to work and live in Riga and explore the opportunities the city offers, the local work ethic, people and the environment.
The program's primary goal is to attract foreign companies to Riga, develop and positively influence the city's economy and business, create new jobs, and increase Riga's competitiveness.
Fredis Bikovs, Director of the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency: "Workcation is a short stay in another country, performing your usual duties remotely. Usually, this work format is used for a short time. However, working holidays are becoming more and more popular under the influence of several factors: the existing technological possibilities for remote work, as well as the desire of entrepreneurs to balance private and work life. Therefore, the workcation program is a relevant and necessary solution for attracting new investments today."
To apply for the program, the company must meet the following requirements: turnover must reach at least 10 million euros in 2021; until now, there has been no registered structural unit in Latvia, and at least 50 employees are employed. In addition, the company that qualifies for the set requirements will receive a personally developed and adapted to specific needs plan, which, if necessary, will include a meeting with the management of the Riga City Council and opinion leaders, as well as meetings with companies in a similar industry. In 2022, 45 thousand euros from the Agency's budget funds are planned for the program.
