This autumn is particularly rich for Latvian sports and football fans with big and important club and league matches. Next up is the Latvian national team's second UEFA Nations League home game against North Macedonia. This will be the third UEFA Nations League C match for both teams.
Latvia and North Macedonia last met in the 2019 European Championship qualifiers, when our opponents prevailed 2-0 in Riga and 3-1 in Skopje. Before that, in 2014, they also lost a test match away (1:2), so our footballers will be looking for their first success in the historic relationship between the two teams in front of their home fans.
In 2021, the North Macedonian national team participated in the European Championship finals, qualifying for the first time at this level.
The Latvian national team qualified for UEFA Nations League C in the previous cycle, when it was beaten by Moldova, Andorra and Liechtenstein in League D. Meanwhile, North Macedonia was convincingly eliminated from League D in its first Nations League season, and this is the team's third season in League C.
